Alwyn turned two years old over the weekend. Which is totally crazy since I was just spoon feeding his first bite of mashed banana last week, I swear. Somehow my baby is turning into a little boy, and can now vocalize his likes and dislikes with actual words instead of cries.
Most of the time at least.
For the past two of Ephram’s birthdays I’ve interviewed him as a way to remember who he was and what he liked at certain ages. I remember doing this for myself growing up, in the same notebook every year, and loved seeing how it changed from year to year. I created the 6×12 page page by modifying this template by Cathy Zielske.
Alwyn doesn’t quite understand what a “favorite” is yet, so for Alwyn’s 2nd year interview, I answered the questions for him using what he talks about day in and day out. Even at age 3 Ephram had a difficult time answering all the questions and I changed a few answers to what I believed to be more accurate. Since I know many of the questions will be more relevant once they grow up, I’m keeping them the same throughout the years, even though some are left blank during the early years.
I slip these into our Project Life album, but could easily be turned into a book themselves, adding a new interview each year. Or even doing them more frequently than just once a year.
Obviously, we’ve continued the tradition with cake and candle photos alongside the interview for Alwyn. The week before, if you asked him if he was excited for his birthday, his response went something like, “Fire! Candle! Cake!”
