I am going to be completely honest here. Out of all the Canvas Gallery Wraps I’ve ordered for photography clients, this is the first one I’ve ordered for personal use.
Make no mistake, they are gorgeous. If you’ve never ordered one or seen one in person, the image is printed on canvas and carefully wrapped around a sturdy 1.5″ depth wooden frame and comes ready to hang. The canvas texture and frameless design is incredibly modern and sleek. And my favorite part? The frameless presentation creates a window into the scene.
But frames are readily available. They can provide a decorative accent to a home in addition to the photograph. And the image can easily be changed out. That last one was the hardest for me to get past. Out of all the images I have of my family, how would I commit to just ONE for a canvas and let go of my desire to change it up?
Well last week I did it. I realized that I actually don’t change out images that frequently. And with this particular wall grouping, I can build around a central Canvas Gallery Wrap, and swap out many of the pieces surrounding it for several years.
And when I’m done with it, I can either incorporate it into another area of my home – perhaps one with a selection of photos of my kiddos as they’ve grown up. Or I may take the advice from a fellow photographer friend to wrap it in kraft paper and store it for the future. I know that because this photo is one we cherish right now, it will hold great meaning to him and his own family years from now.
I’m so in love with this portrait of Ephram. I mean, the “yellow juice” (which is what he calls orange juice), his eyes looking away from me, the facial expression. Everything about this image is him.
I used pieces I’ve been collecting for over a year to complete the gallery wall for Ephram’s room. And I’m super pleased with the statement the Canvas Gallery Wrap provides. Something he can look at every day and spark just a touch of positive self-esteem in himself.
