Lately I’ve been favoring 6×12 inserts in my Project Life albums. I tend to fit all my photos within two 12×12 pages, but occasionally I have 1 or 2 more that don’t fit. Typically I pass the photo onto the next spread or just leave it out, but for two specific photos from our Thanksgiving visit to Minnesota, leaving them out wasn’t an option. These were photos I really wanted to include, but didn’t quite make it into the spread. (View the full spread in the Studio Calico Day by Day class, still available until March 31st.)
The first insert is a photo taken from Thanksgiving with my dad and grandpa. A very important photo to me that I couldn’t just skip including in my Project Life album.
For the journaling, I broke up the text and added a sentiment from Ali Edwards’ For the Love of Words set. I love the added dynamic that it gives to the page by varying the text size and design.
The second insert (on the backside of the one above) is a photo of my kiddos with my mom. One of my favorite iPhone snapshots taken during this trip and it absolutely needed to be included.
For this 6×12, I printed the handdrawn squares from Ali Edwards’ Story Frames set on the top and bottom of the paper. I then cut out squares from patterned paper and painted with watercolor to make my own patterns to fill out the frames. And I finished it off with those adorable hearts from the Studio Calico Far Far Away kit and some stitching.
